LANSING, July 22, 2002 – Luck was with L. Morris of Detroit when she matched the first five numbers drawn in the July 16 Mega Millions drawing to win a $175,000 prize! The winning numbers for the July 16 drawing were: 10, 24, 35, 49, 52 and the Gold Mega Ball number was 47.

The winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Jimmys Market, 8304 W. Davison, in Detroit.

"I saw the winning Mega Millions numbers on television," Morris said. "After I compared them with the numbers on my ticket and saw that I had matched the first five, I kept my cool. I asked my husband to check it—and then to check it again—and when we realized we had actually won $175,000, we were shocked!"

Morris, a faithful Michigan Lottery player for the past 29 years, said she plans to use part of her winnings to pay bills, but that she has not yet had time to make specific plans for the rest of her prize money. The lucky homemaker added that she chose her winning number combination using personal lucky numbers.

Morris offered the following words of encouragement to other Lottery hopefuls: "Just play—if you have a hunch, you could win a bunch!"

The last Big Game drawing took place on Tuesday, May 14. On Wednesday, May 15, The Big Game was replaced by Mega Millions. Mega Millions is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
