LANSING, July 3, 2002 – A lucky Chesaning man chose the winning number combination for the June 27 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a $15,210 jackpot! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 5, 8, 24, 29 and 31.
In total for the June 27 Michigan Rolldown drawing, 15,800 winners shared $51,055 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 69 winners matched four numbers to win a $90 prize; 1,545 winners matched three numbers to win a $10 prize; and 14,185 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Midway Liquor & Deli, 11424 W. Corunna Road, in Lennon.
"I watched the Michigan Rolldown drawing on television," the winner said. "I double-checked the numbers on my ticket against those on the Lottery’s Web site (www.michigan.gov/lottery)."
The 47-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, said he chose the winning numbers based on family members’ birthdays. He added that he kept the winning ticket in his truck at all times before he turned it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Bridgeport. The winner, who enjoys playing golf and watching University of Michigan football games in his free time, said he has no special plans for his winnings at this time.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
