Portage Man Overjoyed Upon Winning $24,243 Rolldown Jackpot in March 29 Drawing!

LANSING, April 4, 2002 – A lucky Portage man is rolling in the dough after matching all five numbers to win the March 29 Michigan Rolldown jackpot worth $24,243, before taxes! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 6, 9, 17, 23 and 28.

In total for the March 29 drawing, 26,595 winners shared $84,605 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 120 winners matched four numbers to win an $82 prize; 2,672 winners matched three numbers to win a $10 prize; and 23,802 winners matched two numbers to win a $1 prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at Rich Oil #8729, 208 River, in Comstock.

"I chose my numbers using a combination of ages, addresses and birthdates," the winner said. "I looked up the winning numbers in the newspaper, and when I realized I had won, I was overjoyed!"

The lucky 34-year-old, who requested anonymity, works at Kalamazoo Building Supply, and said he enjoys attending concerts and traveling to Florida in his free time. He said he kept the ticket in his wallet at all times to ensure its safety before claiming his prize at the Lottery’s regional office in Wyoming. He added that he plans to save part of his winnings and use the rest to purchase new electronic equipment.

Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are

available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
