LANSING, April 4, 2002 – Retirement just got a little sweeter for a lucky Big Rapids man who matched all five numbers in the March 28 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a $22,362 jackpot! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 4, 10, 17, 22 and 30.
In total for the March 28 drawing, 24,657 winners shared $76,702 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 119 winners matched four numbers to win a $77 prize; 2,580 winners matched three numbers to win a $9 prize; and 21,957 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
The winning ticket was purchased at Grunst Brothers Inc., 624 N. State St., in Big Rapids.
"I checked the winning numbers at the store where I purchased my ticket," the winner said. "I have used the same numbers since Rolldown began, so I was very excited to win!"
The lucky 63-year-old retiree, who requested anonymity, said he enjoys bowling and playing outdoor sports in his free time. He said he kept the ticket in his billfold at all times to ensure its safety before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Wyoming. He added that he plans to purchase a new truck and trailer with his winnings. There is no doubt he and his wife will enjoy their recent windfall!
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are
available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
