Livonia Man Rolling in Dough After Winning $21,647 Michigan Rolldown Jackpot!

LANSING, March 21, 2002 – Irish eyes must have been smiling on a lucky Livonia man this past St. Patrick’s Day weekend, because he matched five numbers in the March 18 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a pot of gold worth $21,647! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 6, 8, 10, 25 and 29.

In total for the March 18 drawing, there were 23,676 winners who shared $74,116 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 97 winners matched four numbers for a $91 prize; 2,508 winners matched three numbers for a $9 prize; and 21,070 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.

The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Stans Market #3, 33503 5-Mile Road, in Livonia.

"I was so excited when I checked the newspaper and saw that I had matched all five numbers," the winner said.

The 85-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, is a retired custodian from Livonia Public Schools. He said he kept his ticket in his wallet to ensure its safety before collecting his prize at the Lottery’s regional office in Dearborn Heights. He added that he plans to save his newfound fortune for the future.

Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are

available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide. Also, effective March 4 through March 30, Michigan Rolldown players can once again take advantage of the "Bonus Play" promotion, which offers players who purchase a ticket with five wagers or more an "easy pick" ticket—absolutely free! Players who purchase a 10-panel ticket will receive two free "easy picks."
