Lottery Teams With Sav-On Drug Stores In Michigan Millions "Super Play" Promotion

LANSING, March 13, 2002 – Michigan Lottery players who shop at Sav-On Drug stores in southeast Michigan will soon get an extra opportunity to win big with the Michigan Millions game.

From March 18 to April 7, 2002 the Lottery will be conducting a Michigan Millions "Super Play" promotion exclusively at Sav-On Drug stores in southeast Michigan. Michigan Millions players who purchase a ticket at one of these stores with five wagers or more will get an extra "easy pick" free. Those players who purchase a 10-panel wager will get two free "easy picks."

"This is the third special Michigan Millions Super Play promotion the Lottery has conducted with one of our chain retailers," Acting Lottery Commissioner James Kipp said. "So far these promotions have been very successful, so the Lottery plans to conduct more special promotions with other chain retailers in the state throughout the course of this year."

To play Michigan Millions, players select six numbers from a field of 51, or use the "easy pick" feature in which the computer terminal randomly picks six of 51 numbers. During the drawing the Lottery draws six numbers from a field of 51. Anyone matching these numbers wins the jackpot. The Lottery then draws a seventh number – the Wild Ball – from the remaining 45. The Wild Ball provides more ways for players to win. In addition to the jackpot, there are five other ways to win with Michigan Millions, with and without the Wild Ball.

Cash prizes are awarded for matching six numbers, five numbers, five numbers plus the Wild Ball, four numbers, four numbers plus the Wild Ball and three numbers plus the Wild Ball. The top five prizes are pari-mutuel and, therefore, may vary from drawing to drawing. Pari-mutuel prizes are based on the number of tickets sold and the number of winners at each prize level. The prize for matching three numbers plus the Wild Ball is always $5.

The first Michigan Millions drawing was held Wednesday, February 28, 2001. Drawings are conducted twice a week — Wednesday and Saturday — at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at the more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
