LANSING, March 8, 2002 – A lucky Battle Creek woman was shocked to learn she had matched all five numbers in the March 2 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win the $18,497 jackpot! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 2, 8, 11, 15 and 29.
The 57-year-old winner found out she held a jackpot-winning ticket when she called the store where it was purchased and asked for the winning numbers. The jackpot-winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Sam’s N Supermarket, 862 North Ave., in Battle Creek.
"I called the store where I bought the ticket and asked them for the winning Rolldown numbers," the winner said. "I was absolutely shocked to see they matched the numbers on my ticket!"
Before collecting her prize at the Lottery’s regional office in Wyoming, the lucky woman kept the ticket tucked safely in her wallet, which she carried in her pocket at all times. She said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide. Also, effective March 4 through March 30, Michigan Rolldown players can once again take advantage of the "Bonus Play" promotion, which offers players who purchase a ticket with five wagers or more an "easy pick" ticket—absolutely free! Players who purchase a 10-panel ticket will receive two free "easy picks."
