LANSING, June 29, 2000 — A lucky Bay City man had cause to break out the fireworks and celebrate prior to the July 4th holiday this year. He was overcome with excitement when he recently scratched off a Michigan Lottery "Star Spangled Dollars" instant ticket to reveal he had won a $20,000 top prize!
"I scratched the ticket off at work and was completely shocked by what I saw," the winner said. "I was so excited — I immediately showed it to my co-workers!"
The 47-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games and his favorites are the instant games.
The physical therapist assistant at Health Trak Rehabilitation purchased the winning "Star Spangled Dollars" instant ticket at Cass Avenue Party Store, 1500 Cass Avenue, in Bay City.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Bridgeport, the lucky man kept it on a shelf by his desk at work to ensure its safety.
The winner, who enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren in his free time, said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
"Star Spangled Dollars" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
