Trenton Woman Jumps For Joy After Winning $100,000 Michigan Lottery Cash 5 Prize!

LANSING, January 19, 2000 — A Trenton woman could hardly contain her excitement when she realized she had won the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The 48-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the January 7 Cash 5 drawing — 1, 5, 9, 16 and 23. The winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Hope’s Milk Depot, 316 Southfield Road, in Ecorse.

"I took a couple tickets to the store to find out if I had won anything," the winner said. "The clerk told me I won the top prize, but I didn’t believe him because he always jokes around with me. I put the tickets back in my purse and raced home. I told my husband what happened, so he checked on the winning numbers for me and confirmed that we really matched all five. We hugged and kissed each other and jumped up and down!"

When not crocheting or tending to her flower garden, the Trenton homemaker enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. She said she has been playing Lottery games for the past 27 years, and she truly enjoys the wide variety of games offered.

Prior to turning the winning Cash 5 ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the winner placed it in her purse for safe-keeping. The lucky lady said she plans to use part of her winnings toward a trip to Las Vegas and save the rest so she can help her family when needed.

Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
