Marquette Man Wins $100,000 Top Prize in Lottery's Cash 5 Game! Winning Ticket Sold at Harvey Retailer!

LANSING, December 27, 1999 — A Marquette man recently hit the Lottery bullseye when he won the $100,000 top prize in the Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The 38-year-old winner matched all five numbers — 12, 17, 18, 25 and 28 — in the December 14 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Jack’s IGA Foodliner, 101 Carmen Drive, in Harvey. The Marquette man is the 13th Upper Peninsula resident to win the $100,000 Cash 5 prize since the game’s debut in March 1992!

"I saw the winning numbers on the WLUC-TV 6 evening news," the winner said. "I couldn’t believe my eyes at first! I ran to the store the next day to get a winning number report just to make sure I really had all five numbers. The whole thing is completely unbelievable!"

When not shooting pool or throwing darts, the winner said he enjoys playing Lottery games on occasion. He added that his favorites are Michigan Lotto, the instant games and, of course, Cash 5.

Prior to turning the winning Cash 5 ticket in at Lottery headquarters, the lucky man kept it in his wallet to ensure its safety. He said he hasn’t made any special plans for the bulk of his winnings yet, but said he’d make decisions after the holiday season.

The Marquette man offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "Make sure you buy your tickets — you never know when you are going to win!"

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Players can win $100,000 for matching all five numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.

Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
