LANSING, November 1, 1999 — A Birch Run man reeled in the big bucks after discovering he had won the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers drawn in the October 22 Cash 5 drawing — 9, 10, 16, 26 and 34. The winning Cash 5 “easy pick” ticket was purchased at Don’s Foodland, 7935 Main Street, in Birch Run.
“I watched the drawing on Channel 5 (WNEM-TV) and I checked my ticket right away,” the winner said. “I was completely surprised and in total disbelief! I must have said ‘Oh my gosh’ a hundred times.”
When not fishing, golfing or playing hockey, the lucky man said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He has been a regular Lottery player for the past 10 years and he truly enjoys the wide variety of games the Lottery offers.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the winner said he kept it in a “safe place” in his house. The Birch Run man said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and make investments.
The winner feels fortunate to have won this Lottery prize and he encourages other Lottery hopefuls to “keep trying!”
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Players can win $100,000 for matching all five numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.
Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
