LANSING, September 24, 1999 — Even though deer-hunting season is still about a week away, Paul Scott of Leland recently bagged some trophy "bucks." Michigan Lottery bucks that is! Scott matched the first five numbers in the September 17 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 25, 29, 30, 42, 47 and the Big Money Ball number was 32.
"I looked up the winning numbers in the Traverse City Record-Eagle," Scott said. "I had the ticket hanging on the refrigerator for a couple of days following the drawing and hadn’t even bothered to check it. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out I had won!"
Scott, an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing and golfing, said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 27 years, and he particularly enjoys The Big Game, Michigan Lotto and the instant games. He purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at Cedar City Market, 8994 Kasson St., in Cedar.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, Scott placed it in a safe deposit box. The lucky man said he does not yet have any plans for his winnings.
The 55-year-old winner offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "Perseverance is the key — you can’t win if you don’t buy tickets!"
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight (Friday), September 24, with an expected jackpot of $5 million.
