LANSING, September 21, 1999 — A Pinconning man is enjoying new-found wealth after winning the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The 60-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the September 10 drawing — 18, 23, 30, 35 and 37. The winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Total Petroleum #4319, 3778 N. Huron Road, in Pinconning.
"I took the ticket to the same place I purchased it and had the sales clerk who sold it to me scan it," the winner said. "When the terminal said ‘File Ticket Claim’ I checked the winning numbers right then and discovered I had a winner! I immediately called everyone in my family to tell them I had won, and a lot of them didn’t believe me."
The winner, a long-time volunteer fireman for the Pinconning Fire Department, said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 27 years. He added that he truly enjoys the variety of games the Lottery offers, but Cash 5 is his favorite!
Prior to turning the winning Cash 5 ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the Pinconning man placed it in a safe deposit box to ensure its safety. The winner said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills and save the rest.
The lucky man offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "Just buy your tickets and hope for good luck!"
