LANSING, September 3, 1999 — Amid the hustle and bustle of a long holiday weekend, Michigan Lottery officials hope players take an extra minute to look through their old Lottery tickets; somewhere out there is the slip of paper worth $150,000 to one lucky person! And if it’s not found quickly, this Big Game windfall will fall into the category of "unclaimed prizes."
The sought-after ticket was purchased at Bazzy’s Mobil, 33400 Plymouth Road, in Livonia, for the September 11, 1998 Big Game drawing. This ticket matched the first five of the winning numbers in that night’s Big Game drawing: 21, 31, 34, 35, 43 and the big money ball number, 4.
Time is running out for the winner, however! Michigan Lottery on-line prizes are valid for a period of one year from the draw date. Since the one-year anniversary of the September 11, 1998 draw date falls on a Saturday when Lottery offices are closed, the winner will have until the close of business, Monday, September 13, to claim his or her prize.
Currently, there are 17 top Michigan Lottery prizes waiting to be claimed by their rightful owners, totaling more than $2.5 million in prizes! If prizes are not claimed before the expiration date, the Michigan Lottery’s share of the money is transferred to the state School Aid Fund, which supports Michigan’s public education programs (K-12)
"There is an unusually high number of unclaimed prizes right now, and we certainly hope to hear from the winners before it’s too late," said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Don Gilmer. "I want every player who may have been at these stores to check their old tickets very carefully; an extra minute or two spent looking could really pay off for these would-be winners!"
