LANSING, June 22, 1999 – A Detroit man recently experienced a bit of Lottery luck when he won the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the June 10 drawing – 11, 20, 21, 22, and 29. The winning Cash 5 ticket was purchased at Oram Liquor City, 7446 Michigan Ave., in Detroit.
"I was watching both the hockey and basketball games on television when I saw the winning numbers at the bottom of the screen," the winner said. "I wrote them down and checked my tickets after the games ended. When I saw that I had matched all five I called the Lottery’s toll-free telephone number to verify that I had written down the correct winning numbers. When I realized that I had really matched all five I called my sister and brother-in-law to give them the good news. They couldn’t believe it!"
The retiree said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 13 years and he truly enjoys the variety of games the Lottery offers. The lucky man said he will likely use his winnings to pay bills and make investments.
The winner, who enjoys spending time with his dog and four cats, offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "Never give up and be wise when you bet!"
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Players can win $100,000 for matching all five winning numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.
Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
