LANSING, June 18, 1999 – A Dearborn woman is still in shock after winning the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The lucky lady, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the June 10 drawing – 11, 20, 21, 22, and 29. The winning Cash 5 ticket was purchased at Jays Food Shoppe, 24940 Carlysle St., in Dearborn.
"I got the winning numbers from the Detroit Free Press at work and checked them against my ticket when I got home," the winner said. "I couldn’t believe I matched all five, so I went to the store to get a winning number printout. Still in a state of disbelief, I took the ticket to the Lottery office in Redford to verify it. I still can’t believe this is happening!"
After playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 19 years, the winner said her favorites are Michigan Lotto, The Big Game and, of course, Cash 5. The Dearborn woman said she will likely use her winnings to pay bills, buy property and make investments.
The winner offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "You gotta play to win! If I can win, anyone can!"
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Players can win $100,000 for matching all five winning numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.
Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
