LANSING, June 7, 1999 – A Yale man recently found out what it’s like to have a truly lucky day after winning the $250,000 top prize in the Lottery’s "Lucky 7’s" instant game!

The 38-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 20 years, and his favorites are the instant tickets.  He added that he enjoys playing The Big Game when the jackpot gets high.

"I was in my car when I realized I had won," the winner said.  "I had scratched off the ticket and was leaving the store where I purchased it when I figured out I had won the top prize.  I was so excited that when I got home, I called my wife at work right away to give her the good news."

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the lucky man had his mom and dad keep it in their safe.  The Yale man said he plans to use part of his winnings to buy a new truck.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mike’s Yale Party Store, 121 S. Main, in Yale.  For other Lottery hopefuls, the winner offered the following words of encouragement: "Just keep trying!"
