LANSING, April 12, 1999 – A lucky Grosse Ile man recently won himself a fortune when he took home the $1 million top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s "Casino Fortune" instant game!
"I scratched the ticket off while going through a drive-through car wash," he said. "I knew I had won something, but I couldn’t read what my prize was because it was too dark in the car. I immediately looked at the ticket upon leaving the car wash and couldn’t believe my eyes! I had to look at it about 100 times before I called Lottery headquarters to verify that it really was a winning ticket."
The winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning ticket at AM-PM Amoco, 4407 Fort St., in Trenton. Prior to turning the ticket in at Michigan Lottery headquarters, he placed it in a cupboard in his house for safe-keeping.
The avid golfer, fisherman and boater said he has been playing Michigan Lottery instant games for the past eight years. He said he doesn’t have any special plans for his winnings at this time – he added that he "hasn’t had time to think about it yet."
For other Lottery hopefuls, the winner offered the following advice: "You can’t win if you don’t play!"
"Casino Fortune" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
