LANSING, April 12, 1999 – Akram Al-Yatim of Flint is $150,000 richer after winning a top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game! Al-Yatim matched the first five numbers in the March 30 drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 4, 5, 27, 33, 41 and the Big Money Ball number was 9.
"I saw a sign in the store where I bought my ticket telling people to check their tickets because a $150,000 winner had been sold there," Al-Yatim said. "I checked my ticket right away and was happy to see that I was a winner!"
This isn’t the first time that Al-Yatim won big bucks on a Michigan Lottery game. Less than a year ago, he was the lucky winner of a $4.6 million Michigan Lotto jackpot! The 33-year-old winner said he only plays The Big Game and the Michigan Lotto when the "jackpots get high."
Al-Yatim purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at Ramys, 5425 S. Dort Hwy., in Flint. The lucky winner said he plans to use his winnings to purchase a new car.
The Flint man encourages other individuals to play Michigan Lottery games by saying: "It’s worth a dollar! You can’t win if you don’t play!"
The Big Game is a six-state lottery game which held its first drawing in September 1996. Lotteries in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia contribute to the joint prize pool. Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing will be conducted Tuesday, April 13 – the expected jackpot is $7 million.
