LANSING, March 3, 1999 – Two Detroit-area residents recently experienced a bit of Lottery luck on Michigan Lottery instant tickets!

George Cherich of Wayne received an unexpected gift when he won a $10,000 prize in the Michigan Lottery’s "$1,000,000 Gift" instant game!

The 81-year-old winner purchased the winning ticket at Yours Liquor Store, 16959 Hamilton Ave., in Highland Park.

Cherich said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 20 years.  The retiree from Wayne, who enjoys working with electronics in his free time, said he doesn’t have any special plans for his winnings yet.

Georgia Kline of St. Clair Shores scored big when she won a $20,000 prize in the Michigan Lottery’s "Power Play" instant game!

The 44-year-old winner purchased the winning ticket at 9 Mile & Jefferson Shell, 23717 Jefferson Ave., in St. Clair Shores.

"I almost had a heart attack when I scratched off the ticket and saw that I had won," Kline said.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights, the winner kept it in her pocket at all times for safe keeping.  The St. Clair Shores woman, who said she has been playing Michigan Lottery instant games "for years," plans to use her winnings to pay bills.

"$1,000,000 Gift" and "Power Play" are just two of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
