Jonesville Woman Wins $13 Million Michigan Lotto Jackpot!

LANSING, February 17, 1999 – Twelve-hour work days are now a thing of the past for a Jonesville woman.  Her big payday arrived February 10 in the form of a $13 million Michigan Lotto jackpot!

The 46-year-old "newly retired" factory worker was the only Michigan Lottery player to match all six numbers in the February 10 drawing: 12, 13, 17, 27, 28 and 38.

"I have a habit of not checking my Lottery tickets right away," the winner said.  "A couple friends of mine left a note for me on Thursday night telling me to check my ticket.  They had heard that someone from Jonesville had matched all six numbers.  I knew I had won right away without even looking at my ticket!  I went to work that night and checked my ticket when I got home just to be certain that I had won."

The Jonesville resident, who requested anonymity, said she only plays the Michigan Lotto game periodically.  She purchased the winning Michigan Lotto "easy pick" ticket at CJ’S, 10991 Concord Road, in Jonesville.

The lucky winner selected annuity payment for her jackpot winnings.  She collected her first installment check of $520,000 (before taxes) during her recent visit to Michigan Lottery headquarters, to be followed by 24 annual installments.

The new millionaire said she plans to use part of her winnings to pay hospital bills and has yet to decide what to do with the rest of it.  She offered the following advice to other Lottery hopefuls: "It only takes one ticket to win!"

Michigan Lotto drawings are conducted every Wednesday and Saturday.
