The club members range from 21 to 40 years of age and are a mixture of married and single individuals.
"On my way home from work I picked up a winning number report from the party store," Steve Allen, the club’s representative, said. "When I saw that we had matched five numbers I made myself a drink, sat down and had my wife double-check the numbers! I was so surprised – I swear my hair stood up!"
The winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Diamonds Point Shell, 2404 U.S. Highway 23 South, in Alpena.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the group locked the ticket in a safe deposit box. The club members plan to use part of their winnings to throw a party for each other to celebrate their big win!
The Big Game is a six-state lottery game which held its first drawing in September 1996. Lotteries in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia contribute to the joint prize pool. Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
