LANSING, February 9, 1999 – A Waterford woman recently got the surprise of a lifetime when she discovered that she had won $1,000 a week for the rest of her life in the Michigan Lottery’s "Cash For Life" instant game!
The 45-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning ticket at Lakeside Party Store, 5753 Elizabeth Lake Road, in Waterford.
"When I scratched the ticket off I knew right away what I had won," she said. "I was completely surprised, shocked and nervous all at the same time! I couldn’t sleep for days after scratching the ticket!"
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the winner kept it in a safe deposit box. The Waterford woman said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 26 years.
The lucky lady said she has a few things she would like to do right away with her winnings, including paying bills and "getting her nails done!" She said she plans to use future payments to set up a trust fund for her children and make investments.
For other Lottery hopefuls, the winner offered the following advice: "Keep on playing! Play to win!"
"Cash For Life" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
