LANSING, January 25, 1999 – Hai Bui of Okemos recently hit the big time with the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game! Bui matched the first five numbers in the January 12 drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 5, 7, 9, 20, 46 and the Big Money Ball number was 2.
Bui purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at Meijer, Inc. #25, 2055 W. Grand River Ave., in Okemos. Bui declined to release additional information about himself or his plans for the winnings.
Tim Van Ravensway, store director for Meijer #25, said he is excited that his store sold a winning Big Game ticket.
"I think it is great that someone bought a winning Lottery ticket from our store," Van Ravensway said. "That is just one more good reason to shop at the Okemos Meijer store – we sell winners! I hope the lucky man enjoys his winnings!"
Over the course of the past year, dozens of Michigan residents throughout the state have won $150,000 prizes in Big Game drawings. Of those, six were from the greater Lansing area (Eaton, Clinton and Ingham counties)!
The Big Game is a six-state lottery game which held its first drawing in September 1996. Lotteries in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia contribute to the joint prize pool. Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
The next Big Game drawing will be conducted Tuesday, January 26 – the expected jackpot is $40 million!
