Redford Man Wins $100,000 In Cash 5 Drawing! Winning Ticket Sold At Northville Retailer!

LANSING, January 21, 1999 — A Redford man really cashed in when he won the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The 87-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers — 7, 11, 18, 27 and 30 — in the December 7 drawing.  In addition to matching all five numbers on one ticket, he also matched four numbers on 10 other Cash 5 wagers, for the same drawing, winning an additional $3,500!

He purchased the winning Cash 5 tickets at Good Time Party Store, 567 7 Mile Road, in Northville.  The Redford man said the winning numbers have special significance to him as they represent family members’ birthdays.

"I saw the winning numbers in the Detroit Free Press," he said.  "I was elated to find out that I had won!  I didn’t think this would ever happen!  Cash 5 is my favorite game – it’s the best!"

Prior to collecting his prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the Redford man placed the winning ticket in a safe deposit box.  He said he plans to share his winnings with his family and take his wife on a couple of trips.

The avid golfer said he has been playing the Michigan Lottery since the day it started, and he offered the following advice to other Lottery hopefuls: "Find your own method of picking numbers.  Use dates and numbers that have meaning to you. Eventually you will win!"

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Odds to win the $100,000 top prize are one in 575,757.  Tickets are available at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
