LANSING, December 4, 1998 – A Cadillac woman is now $100,000 richer after winning the top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!
The 22-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, collected the game’s $100,000 top prize by matching all five numbers in the October 23 drawing – 3, 4, 17, 35 and 37. The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at People’s Choice Market #91, 465 W. Sanilac Ave., in Sandusky.
"My mom saw the winning numbers in the newspaper," she said. "We then double-checked them on the Michigan Lottery Web site. I was very excited that I had won!"
Prior to collecting her prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the Western Michigan University student hid the winning ticket in a safe deposit box. She said she doesn’t have any special plans for the money yet – she is still thinking about what to do with it.
The winner offered the following advice to other Lottery hopefuls: "You never think you are going to win, but you just have to keep trying!"
Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Odds to win the $100,000 prize are one in 575,757. Tickets are available at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
