Barryton Resident Wins Top Prize In Michigan Lottery's "Surprise Package" Instant Game!

LANSING, November 16, 1998 – A Barryton construction worker may fulfill his dream of buying a home after winning the $250,000 top prize on a Michigan Lottery "Surprise Package" instant ticket!

The 21-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning ticket at Quick Sav Food Store #15, 263 N. Sheraton Road, in Remus.

"I was on my way to a doctor’s appointment and I stopped at the store to buy a pack of gum," he said.  "While I was there, I thought I would buy a couple Lottery tickets too.  I scratched the tickets off after I got back into my car and knew right away that I had won $250,000.  I was so excited and shocked that I skipped my doctor’s appointment and went straight home!"

The winner said he regularly plays Lottery instant games, Lotto and The Big Game.  He said he believes if you play enough you will eventually win, and he encourages Michigan Lottery players to "just keep playing!"  He said he plans to share his winnings with his family and eventually buy a house.

The popular $5 "Surprise Package" ticket is just one of many instant game tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
