LANSING, July 23, 1998 – For William Plemmons of Milford, the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game is the only game in town! Plemmons matched the first five numbers in the July 14 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 5, 7, 15, 33, 48, and the Big Money Ball number was 13.
"I usually check the numbers in the morning paper, but decided to check at the store instead," said Plemmons. "I said, ‘Wait a minute! I have those numbers!’ Then I had the store clerk print out a winning number report, just to be sure."
Plemmons, 51, is a General Motors employee and has been a regular Michigan Lottery player since 1972. He and his wife, Patricia, will have plenty of time to decide how to spend their winnings.
"We already had a vacation planned; we’ll think about what to do while we’re gone."
An avid traveler and collector of Beanie Babies™, Plemmons purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at Ecorse Market, 39315 Ecorse Road, in Romulus.
The Big Game is a six-state lottery game which held its first drawing in September 1996. Lotteries in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia contribute to the joint prize pool.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The estimated jackpot for the Friday (July 24) drawing is $5 million.
