LANSING, March 6, 1998 – Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a millionaire?  How about a millionaire 34 times over!  Somewhere in Michigan, a lucky Lottery player holds the ticket to a $34 million Michigan Lotto jackpot, but time is running out!

Winners have one year from the draw date to claim Michigan Lottery prizes.  However, since the one-year anniversary of this ticket falls on a Sunday, the winner will have until the close of business Monday, March 16, to claim this Michigan Lotto prize.

"It’s always puzzling to us when a prize goes unclaimed for such a long period of time," said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Bill Martin, "but when you’re talking about a $34 million prize, it’s unbelievable!  We’re still hoping to get the word out to the winner, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that they’ll contact us before the ticket expires."

If this $34 million Lotto ticket goes unclaimed, it would be the single largest prize ever to go unclaimed.  Since the Lottery’s inception in 1972, the amount of unclaimed prizes that has gone to the state School Aid Fund totals more than $230 million.
