Detroit Man Wins $100,000 Prize In Lottery's Cash 5 Game

LANSING, December 31, 1997 – A self-described "handyman" will have a little extra money for home repairs this year!

The Detroit resident matched all five winning numbers – 10, 11, 14, 32 and 35 – in the November 26 Cash 5 drawing, winning the top prize of $100,000!

"My wife heard the drawing results on TV while she was fixing dinner," he said.

The 74-year-old Chrysler retiree has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for 20 years.  He randomly picked his own numbers for this Cash 5 ticket.

The winner, who requested anonymity, said he would share the winnings with his family, make investments, and possibly buy a computer or treadmill.  The winning ticket was purchased at Kit Kat Market, 8330 Harper Ave., in Detroit.

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Players win prizes for matching 5 of 5 numbers ($100,000), 4 of 5 numbers ($350), and 3 of 5 numbers ($20).
