LANSING, October 30, 1997 – An Elsie man learned first-hand that it takes just one to win with the Michigan Lottery!  He’s the latest winner of the $250,000 top prize in the Lottery’s "Surprise Package" instant game!

"I heard the ads for the Surprise Package game, and I decided to buy a ticket for the game; just one ticket!" said the winner when he came to Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.

"I scratched off my ticket and I thought, ‘This can’t be right.’  I took it back to the store to have a better look, and the store clerk called the owner and he told me, ‘I think you’d better sign that ticket!’"

The winner, who requested anonymity, said he may possibly use his winnings to make home renovations, take a vacation or buy a new home.

An occasional Michigan Lottery player for 25 years, the winning Surprise Package ticket was purchased at D’s Party Store, 220 Main Street, in Oakley.

"Surprise Package" boasts a top instant cash prize of $250,000, with other cash prizes ranging from $5 to $25,000.
