LANSING, September 5, 1997 – Laingsburg resident Arthur Philp is the latest winner in the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game!

Philp won The Big Game’s $150,000 prize after matching the first five Big Game numbers drawn Friday, August 15.  The winning numbers in that day’s drawing were: 17, 21, 27, 42, 47 and the Big Money Ball number was 21.

"I didn’t find out until the next day that I was a winner," said Philp.  "When I double-checked the numbers I’d written down the night before, that’s when I knew I won $150,000 – but I still checked my ticket five times before I showed it to my wife!"

Philp, 60, has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for 25 years.  He said he and his wife, Marcia, would use their Big Game winnings to supplement retirement.

The "easy pick" ticket was purchased at K’s Market, 9978 Round Lake Road, in Laingsburg.

The Big Game offers nine ways to win cash prizes.  Players pay $1 for each play, and choose five numbers from 1 to 50, as well as one additional number from 1 to 25.

Tonight’s (September 5) Big Game jackpot is estimated at $20 million.
