Only a Week Left to Claim a $250,000 Mega Millions Prize with Ticket Sold in Southfield!

MSL MegaMillions LogoThere’s only a week left for someone to claim a $250,000 Mega Million prize with a ticket bought in Southfield last year. If the prize isn’t claimed, it will go to the state School Aid Fund.

The ticket was sold at the 8 Mile Foodland, located at 18880 8 Mile Road, for the April 12, 2013 Mega Millions drawing.  The winning numbers for that drawing were 01-10-13-19-21 and the Gold Mega Ball was 28.  The $250,000 winner matched the first five numbers.

Mega Millions tickets are valid for one year from the drawing date.  Because the one-year mark for this winning ticket falls on a Saturday, the ticket will be valid until 4:45 p.m. on April 14.

The ticket holder should contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 for an appointment to claim the prize at the Lottery headquarters in Lansing.

Last month, another major Michigan Lottery prize sold at a Southfield retailer went unclaimed, providing a $138,727 boost to the state School Aid Fund.  That winning Fantasy 5 ticket expired on March 7.  It was bought at the Smokers Depot & Convenience located at 27214 West 8 Mile Road.

On March 31, an unclaimed $250,000 Mega Millions prize also went to the School Aid Fund.  That winning ticket was bought in Flint at the Southend Market, 1701 S. Saginaw Street.

The Lottery contributed $734.3 million to the School Aid Fund in the 2013 fiscal year.  That works out to about $465 for each of the 1.58 million pupils in the state’s kindergarten-through-12th grade system.
